How the Sony Xperia Z5 can hurt the still upcoming Sony Xperia Z3+
Will the Sony Xperia Z3 put the unnecessary strain on the Sony Xperia Z3+ (also known as Xperia Z4 on Japan and most of the Asian market)? The Z3+ is set to launch this June but the latest device specification leaks on the Sony Xperia Z5 has got the tech populous world wide web abuzz, thus putting the Z3+ just few steps away from the edge of the cliff.
Price wise, the Z3+ has an unofficial price of $630 dollars for the highest model unit of the series. That is more or less P28, 000 when converted to our currency. The Z5 has a rumored selling price of a thousand dollars. Factoring into the equation the currency exchange rate for the last quarter of the year, there is a chance that the Z5 will just be at P 42,000 compared to the June and July projection of P43—45, 000.00. You may notice the big difference in price and infer that the Z5 is premium and the Z3+ aims to compete in the mid-high range device.
Note that both units are marketed as flagship devices.
No look and artist’s rendering has been recognized by Sony as “similar” to the Z5. Though there are two designs that “bear” resemblance to Sony’s last quarter device. These are: 1. the simple rectangular aluminum body with more angular sides. Following the latest design of the Sony Bravia T.Vs, there is a very high possibility that the Z5 will have flatter edges.
Sony confirms that the Z5 will be slightly thicker than the Z3+ to accommodate an extra feature. That leads us to the number two supposed design. The hype train has grown really strong because of this design. This look features a sliding screen that turns the Z5 into a Nintendo DS-like gaming device. Underneath the touch screen display is a QWERTY keypad, with gaming buttons and a joy stick.
Even the phone specifications of the Z5 are varying from leak sources to leak sources. There are different combinations, all of which are sensible. For example: one leak claims that the imagined specs for the Z5 are: a 30mp primary back camera with a wide angle 10 MP front camera. 40+ MP is the highest camera MP count. That is available on the Nokia 1020. 13 MP front camera is the highest rating as of today. This feature is now applied by more than one smartphone manufacturer.
The Xperia Z5 has an Octa core processor clocked at 3.2 GHz. It includes a 4GB RAM, a 32 GB starting storage and 128GB maximum. The only consistent feature on all the leak sources is its 4500 mAh battery that can fully charge in 30 minutes (source has to be 110-120 AC connection)
As a refresher, the key specs of the Z3+ are its Snapdragon 810 Octa-core processor, Adreno 430 graphics, and 3GB of RAM. This hardware combination has power, speed and intelligence. Just one look and you know that the Z3+ is great in its own way. However you know that the combination for the Z5 is mightier, more swift and more cunning than the Z3+.
All these uncertainties yet we claim that it puts unnecessary strain on The Z3+? Yep, we stand by this. We mean why buy a device on July when something better will come out in a span of 4 or 5 months. Buying remorse usually happens on when purchasing platforms these days.
We know that people would want to avoid that as much as possible by setting their sights on a more powerful and practically the best device to have. That said, it would be better to wait until the last quarter of the year. Come to think of it, it is not Sony that puts the unnecessary stress. Maybe they are just looking for a way to expand their product choices and keep our options open. But, like when we were on our playground days, we would only pick teammates that we believe and observe to have better handles and faster hustle to help the team win. We, the consumers are putting the unnecessary pressure because of better information.
The main competition came from the same bosom and the minds. Having two flagship devices in a year is normal but you can’t just stick a premium label on two significantly different units. It’s a normal practice to continue with development but has become unusual, especially in the last 5 years to produce a unit that is two to three degrees higher than its predecessor.
